Understanding Broken Yellow Lines:
In New Zealand, broken yellow lines indicate areas where stopping or parking is prohibited.
These markings are placed in locations where parked vehicles could obstruct visibility or
create hazards for other road users, especially around schools where children are present.
(This is according to NZTA.)
Legal Implications:
Parking on broken yellow lines is illegal and can result in fines. According to the Land Transport
(Road User) Rule 2004, a driver must not stop, stand, or park a vehicle where it's prohibited by
road markings or traffic signs. (This is NZ legislation.)
Our Commitment to Safety:
To ensure the safety of our tamariki and staff, we may report vehicles that continue to park
illegally on the broken yellow lines. While we prefer not to take this step, ongoing violations
leave us with no choice but to involve the appropriate authorities.
We kindly ask for your cooperation in adhering to parking regulations and respecting the
guidance of our staff. By doing so, we can maintain a safe environment for all our community.
If you have any suggestions or ideas on how we can improve drop-off and pick-up safety, we
would love to hear from you. We’re open to working together on solutions that benefit
everyone.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support.
Ngaa mihi nui,
Ms. Sialele Pulou

important notice!
Dear Parents and Whaanau,
We hope this message finds you well.
As a school, our top priority is always
the safety and well-being of our
tamariki. Recently, we've observed
instances of vehicles parking and/or
stopping on the broken yellow lines
during drop-off and pick-up times. We
understand the challenges of busy
schedules, but it's important to
address this issue for the safety of
everyone.
