Covid-19 Update

Kia ora Kingsford Whanau

No doubt you will have heard the announcement today regarding the three new cases of Covid-19 in our local community.  While I appreciate the concern regarding how close these cases are to us, at this stage we will continue on as normal.  Just a reminder of what ‘normal’ is at Kingsford:

  • Teachers will be reminding and closely monitoring students around their hygiene habits, particularly the importance of washing their hands before and after eating, and after blowing their nose or using the bathroom.
  • They will also remind students to cough/sneeze into the crook of their elbow.
  • Students will only drink from their own bottles – no sharing of bottles, or of food.
  • Any child displaying any flu-like symptoms will be sent to the sickbay immediately. You will be phoned and asked to come and pick them up.

Rose Tavelia and I will be at the gate tomorrow morning to greet children and check for any flu-like symptoms. No adult or child displaying flu-like symptoms will be permitted to enter school grounds. You will be asked to return home, and call your GP to discuss getting a Covid-19 test.

Classrooms are well stocked with paper towels, hand wash and sanitiser, and teachers will be in classrooms ready to greet your children at 8.15 am sharp.  Again, any child they see displaying any flu-like symptoms will be sent to the sickbay immediately, and you will be phoned to come and get them.

Lastly, if you or any member of your family has any flu-like symptoms, please stay at home and contact your GP regarding a Covid-19 test. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to call us at school.

Stay safe, nga mihi nui
